Dear Members & Friends:
Six centuries before the birth of Jesus, in a time of national distress and uncertainty, the Bible records a business deal: the purchase of a field by the prophet Jeremiah. This transaction on its face seemed foolish. Jeremiah's homeland was under siege by an invading enemy. Private ownership of property would soon be forfeited to the conquering power. Nevertheless, Jeremiah bought a field and received this promise from God: Houses and fields and vineyards shall again be bought in this land. (Jeremiah 32:15). Jeremiah's purchase was an expression of hope and of his belief that his country would be restored to peaceful days.
In these days of national distress as we unite to withstand a mighty attack on our nation and world, we remain under the protection of almighty God. Life as we knew it before the virus will return. As the saying goes, "Best of all, God is with us." During the suspension of our formal church activities, please join me in continual prayers for those physically afflicted and financially impacted by the virus; for the restoration of worship everywhere; and for peace in the world. Please check this web page for updates about our worship schedule. Our future is secure. "Though all the world with devils fill and threaten to devour us, we tremble not,we trust God's will: they cannot overpower us." (Martin Luther, A Mighty Fortress is our God).
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
