5th - 8th Grade
Grades 5-8 meet Sunday mornings from 9:45 am – 11 am
Seventh and Eighth graders attend Pastor Heagy’s catechetical instruction, which prepares students for Public Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation). Instruction is offered over a 2-year course cycle, generally beginning in 7th grade. Level 1 Catechetics focuses on the Old and New Testaments. Level 2 classes will cover Luther’s Small Catechism, Lutheran theology and certain organizational aspects of the ELCA.
Requirements for students include attendance at weekly classes and weekly Sunday worship, as well as completion of class assignments. Catechumens will be scheduled to serve at the Altar for worship liturgies. Students make a Public Affirmation of their Baptism (Confirmation) at Pentecost Sunday worship.
Additional information on our Christian Education program is provided in our Parent-Student Handbook. Please contact our church office to receive the handbook.
